The Supervisor is a key
member of the Production Team that is responsible for the manufacture of carbon
composite turbine blades for ongoing and new operations within the Windsor
Blades Factory. Will supervise and coordinate the activities of
production workers engaged in operating a variety of machines and activities to
manufacture parts and support the fabrication of structural Blade products.
Responsibilities: Directly supervises 25 to 45 employees in the Production department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and coaching employees; overseeing, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and employee development; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Implements and supports self-managed teams. Promotes workplace safety and educates Team members on safety policies and procedures. Conducts safety walks to identify hazards, and then involves the Team in correcting identified hazards. Investigates and completes reports on injuries and near misses. Manages quality measures, process indicators, material and labor over consumptions. Manages complex manpower schedules to balance production and team member’s needs. Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure customer deadlines are met. After self-managed team involvement, analyzes, resolves work problems, and assists workers in solving problems. Maintains time and production records. Develops capital equipment justifications for machine tools and process technology to improve quality, cost, and cycle times. Manages process optimization. Appraises performance and set expectations. Contributes to strategic planning to optimize workflow process. Works with employee schedules. Ensures teams are within regulatory and internal compliance, when and how to use and handle hazardous materials, and understand their hazards at various locations using machines and equipment, properly segregate hazardous materials and waste. Ensures team promptly communicates to warehouse and/or shipping the transport of hazardous materials and waste according to strict regulatory requirements. Complies with state and federal regulations for handling, storage, disposal, transport etc. of hazardous materials and waste. Assists production as needed. All other duties as assigned.
High school diploma or (GED); 3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. College education in related field preferred but not required. Ability to work in teams, high degree of adaptability, flexibility, and dedication to team/company, personal desire to produce quality work, and ability to work as a craftsman with hand tools. Ability to learn and utilize Vestas Data Systems, and to encourage and facilitate change. System skills – Microsoft Office, ERP / MRP systems, CRM database, etc. Ability to compute in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Natural ability to lead co-workers. Focus on quality, safety, cooperation, continuous improvement, flexibility, customer focus, and active listening. Strong communication skills. Desire to learn and transfer skills or knowledge. Excellent work ethic. Personal desire to produce quality. Ability to learn and utilize information systems.
